All our bags are packed, we're ready to go .......

All weighed and checked, we have enough spare weight to allow us to take our tents with us and are set to meet at 12.00 tomorrow at the airport, everyone is getting very excited.

Vehicle handover

L - R:  Tunku Motsumi, the Ford dealer Gaborone, the three guys from Ford South Africa who drove the vehicles to Gaborone, Moses Kaisara, Chief Commissioner BSA and, of course, our team!
Things are starting to come together for the Advance Party.  George approached Ford South Africa and has got us 2 vehicles for the duration of the expedition, this is a massive help to us and they are due to be delivered to Gaborone this afternoon.  A big thank you to George.
Still no sign of the container!
Lots of smaller details are being filled out and last minute arrangements being put in place.
The team although enjoying the warm days have commented on how cold it is at night, we always knew this but everyone be aware, we were not kidding!

Tonight we meet to weigh bags before our departure tomorrow.

The Advance Party are finding time a bit heavy on their hands and those new to African ways are finding it a bit frustrating.  There is no container yet and no vehicle for them to use, but tonight they had a very productive meeting with some of our Botswanan Scout partners.  There have been some challenges identified, but we will meet these head on and still have a fantastic expedition.

The Advance Party has arrived

The team are all tired after a long journey, but glad to be in Botswana.  They were met at the airport by Onalenna, Chief Executive of the Scout Association of Botswana and are now relaxing at their hotel, getting ready to tackle the list of jobs they have to complete before we arrive.
(Winter in Botswana about 25 - 30 degrees.)

Chris, Elliot and Mike G. hard at work by the pool!

The Advance Party are on their way!

Last technology fix!

Ready for the bag drop!
Mike M left Edinburgh first to fly via Frankfurt to J'burg.  Chris and Mike G left shortly after him heading for Heathrow to meet up with Elliot, before flying to J'burg where they will meet Mike and all fly to Gaborone together.

Just after they left we heard that the container is now in Durban, so hopefully it will not be long before it arrives in Gaborone - so they can all get to work.

Welcome

Welcome to our Wild in Botswana Blog.  We hope to keep you informed of the progress of the expedition while we are in Botswana but cannot guarantee that we will always have access to the internet, so this may be quite sporadic!
